First | Previous Encoding of glyph variants -- some preliminary experiments 30

Conclusions

  • Texts of the common East Asian heritage have been prepared in a way that can be presented as in the original and adapted for modern audiences in four areas.
  • For this purpose variant usage of characters has been recorded in the text itself.
  • Information about todays usage in these areas has been recorded external to the text in a topic map.
  • This approach provided a flexible way to adapt to these differences and yet maintain one single source text.
