What is a topic map?

A topic map is a model for mapping 'things' into datastructures.

  • All these things are 'topics' in topic maps
  • Topics are connected through 'associations'
  • 'Occurrences' are the places where these topics are found

Topic maps are defined as a SGML-based standard by the International Standards Organization (ISO 13250)
